YOUNGSTERS in East Renfrewshire have brought some colour and joy to a care home that has experienced tough times during the coronavirus crisis.
Westacres, in Newton Mearns, has seen 11 suspected Covid-19 deaths of residents aged between 87 and 104.
Bosses had asked the local community to do its bit to support residents and staff – and our young readers responded by creating colourful drawings and messages that are now on display there.
Jack Ryan, CEO of Newark Care, the charity which runs Westacres, said: “I’d like to thank the youngsters who responded to the Barrhead News appeal by taking the time to prepare such fantastic artwork for our residents.
“They have really brightened up the home for us all.”
