Arthurlie remain in the fight to beat the drop from the Premier Division after picking up four points to aid their safety bid in the last week.

The Barrhead club hosted already-relegated Irvine Meadow at Dunterlie Park last Wednesday night and blew the Ayrshire side way with a 7-0 victory.

Conor Bradley opened the scoring before Lee Roulston doubled their advantage.

Club captain Mark Docherty also got on the scoresheet during an impressive first half display as he netted from the penalty spot to give Arthurlie a 3-0 lead at the interval.

And the goals kept coming in the second period, with Roulston bagging his second and Ciaran McPherson finding the net to make it 5-0.

Further goals from Dylan Fletcher and Dylan Dykes arrived to leave the Barrhead faithful in seventh heaven as they followed up their memorable Scottish Junior Cup semi-final victory over Johnstone Burgh with a resounding league win.

A tougher task awaited Colin Reilly’s players on Saturday as they welcomed title challengers Auchinleck Talbot to Dunterlie.

Michael Wardrope fired the visitors ahead before Arthurlie got back on level terms when a long-throw into the box was headed into his own net by a Talbot defender.

There was a blow for the home team before the break as Wardrope added his second to restore their lead.

However, Arthurlie responded well and secured a point thanks to Lewis Magee’s equaliser on 66 minutes.

It leaves Reilly's team four points from safety with games running out.

Their last three fixtures see them play Hurlford United twice, as well as taking on title hopefuls Beith.

Reilly's immediate attention is on this Saturday's trip to Blair Park for the first match against Hurlford, with kick-off at 2pm.
