Celtic hero Martin O'Neill is to appear at a special event at an East Renfrewshire venue.

An evening with the former footballer and celebrated Parkhead manager is to take place at Eastwood Park Theatre in Giffnock on May 31.

Hosted by journalist Graham Spiers, Martin will take a trip down memory lane to explore his career highlights.

There will also be the opportunity for audience members to ask questions along the way and an additional option for a meet and greet with the man himself.

Moira McFadden, head of communities and arts at East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure said: "We are excited to hear about Martin O'Neill's journey and successes as a footballer and manager.

"The event will include opinionated and entertaining football chat, covering his Celtic years, and an audience Q&A.

"For those who want a more intimate chat with Martin, a small number of prime meet-and-greet tickets are also available."

One of the most distinguished figures to have emerged from British football in the past 50 years, Martin won the European Cup twice and English Premier League as a player with Nottingham Forest and has 64 international caps to his name.

He went on to have a successful managerial career, nowhere more so than Celtic, where he won seven trophies while leading the club to the 2003 UEFA Cup final.

The event is the latest to be added to a schedule of high profile names who have already graced the stage at Eastwood Park recently or are lined up to appear in the coming months.

"We recently hosted an In Conversation event with Rangers legends Terry Butcher, Mark Walters and Graham Roberts and will also welcome former Celtic player and manager Neil Lennon to a sold-out show in October 2024," he added.

"Our conversational events with well-known names continue this year, including former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon, who comes to the theatre in June, while the Queen of the West End, Kerry Ellis, will be welcomed to our stage in November."

Tickets are on sale now, priced from £25.
