The school has just been rewarded with a sportscotland Gold School Sport Award.
They are among 82 gold status schools from across Scotland.
The national awards scheme is designed to encourage schools to continuously improve the quality and quantity of physical education and school sport opportunities.
They will be presented with a flag and a certificate at a later date.
Fiona McKay, head teacher at Uplawmoor Primary School, said: “We are absolutely delighted with our sportscotland Gold School Sport Award.
“Our staff work incredibly hard to promote sport both as part of the curriculum and as extra-curricular activity too. We know how important physical activity is and put a real effort into making sure it is an important part of the school day. Our children really enjoy the activities and are so enthusiastic. We are playing our part setting them on the road to healthy, active lives.” Fiona added that they were especially delighted at the timing, with the news coming during the school’s health week. The children are spending this week trying out a variety of different sporty and physical activities.
Stewart Harris, chief executive of sportscotland, said: “I would like to congratulate all the staff and pupils at Uplawmoor Primary School for putting quality physical education and school sport at the heart of the school. They should be proud of this fantastic achievement.” An extensive external assessment is carried out by an independent panel of experts before a school is awarded gold status.
