A PUPIL at a school in Clarkston has been recognised for her admirable sporting achievements. 

Erin Boothman, from Williamwood High, has had a recent string of stunning successes in cycling competitions.

The S5 pupil was crowned champion at the National Youth Omnium Championship in 2023, placing second in the under-16 women’s category at the British Youth Track Cycling Championships in 2022, and representing Team GB at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Slovenia.

The keen cyclist has been awarded a place on the Scottish Cycling Junior Training Programme and is now working towards representing Scotland at the Commonwealth Games.

Kirsten Oswald, MP for East Renfrewshire, presented an Early Day Motion to Erin, recognising her achievements.

The MP said: "I was absolutely delighted to have met with Erin Boothman to present her with an Early Day Motion I tabled at Westminster to mark her fantastic success in various cycling competitions.

“Erin is clearly a very talented athlete as shown in the fantastic results she has achieved across the country and further afield.

“I wish her well as she continues to train hard and works towards representing Scotland at the next Commonwealth Games.”
