Artists and designers are being sought to produce one of a set of Covid memorials, which will be displayed in outdoor public spaces across East Renfrewshire.

The art pieces, commissioned by the East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, will be placed in Eastwood Park, Barrhead, Uplawmoor and Eaglesham, as part of the Remembering Together project, funded by the Scottish Government.

Individuals with the capacity and commitment to cultivate experience in public art are encouraged to apply, particularly those with sculptures and public artworks experience.

Moira McFadden, head of communities and arts at East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, said: "The design the artists/designers create for each site should directly link to the responses and ideas that were contributed by the communities within East Renfrewshire during phase one of the Remembering Together project, as its essential we recognise and value these.

"Water was recognised by communities across the area as being a connecting theme, both through the geographic landscape of the local area and its various rivers, and its significance during the pandemic; to wash, to heal, for life.

"It is important that the artists/designers create memorials that are relevant to communities in East Renfrewshire, acknowledges the wide range of experiences people have had, incorporates points from the co-creation and reflects what this time has meant for communities."

Interested candidates are encouraged to submit an expression of interest by noon on March 4 to artsandheritage@ercultureandleisure.org.

Applicants should also submit a CV or Statement of Practice and provide a written proposal on their approach to the design.

Extra details about relevant past commissions or projects that demonstrate suitability for this task would also be beneficial.
