POLICE targeted irresponsible drivers in response to complaints about “boy racers” speeding along East Renfrewshire streets.
A week-long initiative in Barrhead and Neilston that ended on Sunday led to a number of motorists being charged.
Officers confirmed a 30-year-old man with a provisional licence was found driving with no insurance and no supervision, while a separate incident saw a 22-year-old man being arrested for driving whilst disqualified and with no insurance.
Elsewhere, a man aged 18 was charged with dangerous driving and having no MOT.
Police also revealed that a 20-year-old man was found in possession of cannabis after a vehicle was stopped during the operation.
A spokesman said: “Our problem-solving team staged this initiative in response to complaints about driver behaviour.”
