BUDDING cyclists are being invited to join the first Cycle Neilston event of 2016.
Neilston development Trust’s guided tour will be led by a team of skilled and patient cycling enthusiasts this Saturday and is set to journey through a range of picturesque locations en route.
Highlights along the way include: Cowden Hall, Neilston Pad and the Dams to Darnley Country Park, while the likes of Eaglesham Moor, Pollok Park and Castle Semple Loch are also within cycling distance.
Cyclists of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend for a day of casual cycling around the town and those without their own bike will be able to hire one from The Bank Bike Hub.
Free bike safety checks will also be on offer from one of the team’s experienced leaders.
Cycle Neilston project manager Laura Carswell encouraged those who would like to do more road cycling to get involved and said: “We have a lovely gentle ride planned around the village.
“This will be a great event especially for families, children and any cyclists who are keen to build up their confidence cycling on the road.
“Neilston is Scotland’s first Cycle Friendly Village and this is our fourth year of delivering cycle activities and rides from The Bank Bike Hub.”
The group will meet at the back of The Bank on Main Street at 10am. Adults will be charged a £2 entry fee, while children under 16, who must be accompanied by an adult, can take part for just £1.
Full details about the Cycle Neilston programme can be found at www.cycleneilston.co.uk where information on bike hire, sales, repairs, cycling news and training services is provided.
