A man has died after being hit by a train at Thornliebank station.
The tragedy happened at around 5.45am today.
Scotrail advised a delay in services after the incident this morning between Glasgow and East Kilbride.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Around 5.45am this morning, Friday, 15 April 2016, a man died after being struck by a train at Thornliebank station.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish his identity. There would appear to be no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
Scotrail advised on Twitter: "Sadly due to a person being hit by a train between Glasgow Central and East Kilbride, services between these stations may be cancelled."
